SAMCAR Foundation Grants $8,000 to Local Charities in Q1
At their February meetings, SAMCAR Foundation Trustees approved Q1 grants to two organizations — $5,000 to Rebuilding Together Peninsula and $3,000 to Nuestra Casa — for a total amount of $8,000, with funds donated by SAMCAR members.

"I'm so proud of the SAMCAR Foundation, we get to give back to housing related communities in need, through our grants to such worthy organizations," said Foundation Council Chair Kirsten Hagen. "They help those in need, in such amazing and diverse ways."

Rebuilding Together Peninsula
Rebuilding Together Peninsula provides free home repairs and safety modifications to low-income homeowners through their Safe at Home Program. Their mission is "repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives." For 35 years, Rebuilding Together Peninsula has addressed accessibility and serious repair needs and has helped residents live independently in safe, healthy, affordable homes in their communities. The Safe at Home Program completes projects for approximately 100 low-income homeowners annually.

Nuestra Casa
Nuestra Casa's Community Outreach program informs and connects low-inome community members to affordable housing resources like Moving to Work and Housing Industry Foundation's emergency fund. Their mission is "to uplift Latinx families in the mid-peninsula through community education, leadership development and advocacy." This fiscal year they anticipate helping 120 households apply for affordable housing programs and emergency rental assistance.
